The Cloud Architect will support and lead the management of a Cloud-Based solution for a federal agency. The Cloud Architect position guides strategic direction and provides overarching architectural leadership for the program team & customers to evaluate and subsequently deploy Cloud solutions.
- The Cloud Architect is responsible for leading the technical aspects for application development initiatives within the Agency.
- The Cloud Architect will help build and integrate cloud-based information and computer systems that meet specific needs. The Cloud Architect is accountable for the end-to-end customer cloud deployment experience, from concept development to deployment.
- The ideal candidate will carry a proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication.
- The Architect will be customer-facing enterprise domain expert applying broad technical skills, with deep industry knowledge and business acumen.
- The Cloud Architect will assist other resources on the program by providing technical direction and guidance to technical resources and government points of contact.
- As such, the position will serve as an effective advocate for cloud migration and develop strategic relationships with senior executives and technical resources in order to help customers realize significant mission value through Cloud technology.
Requirements
- BA or BS degree
- 3+ years of experience handling large amounts of data
- Programming experience in a Linux environment
- Experience with Cloud technologies such as AWS (EC2, S3 or Lambda) Or Google Cloud
- Fluency in some of scripting languages such as bash, csh, perl, or python
- Ability to work with common structured documents (at least one of XML, JSON) for configuration
- Production experience with open source projects
- Experience with open technologies, DevOps, and related Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Gitlab, Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Ansible, or Git
- Production experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit tests, integration and regression testing
- Experience with building, deployment, release automation, or orchestration
- Experience with supporting enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code environments, including activities around the automated server or network configurations, large-scale software deployments, or monitoring and testing, such as continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
- Experience with automation tools, including Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
- Experience with automating system configurations and orchestrating network operations and DevOps pipelines, scaling, releases, and day-to-day system operations in Cloud environments
- Experience in working within and managing git-based version control systems, including Gitlab and Github
- Ability to obtain a public trust level security clearance
Preferred:
- Experience with provisioning and managing infrastructure as well as applications in Cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with DevSecOps and Agile methodologies
- Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
- Experience with managing personal project priorities and deliverables
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
- Cloud Certification, including AWS, Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification, Google Certified Professional – Cloud Architect, or MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
