Department/Position Details:

  • Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient’s ongoing nursing care needs
  • Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient’s nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcome
  • Implements interventions consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Evaluates patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome
  • Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety
  • Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions to achieve organization’s mission
  • Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns)
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age /weight of the patients served
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Attend mandatory educational programs.
  • Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures

Position Requirements:

 Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school/college of nursing.
  • Required Registered Nursing licensed in the State of Nebraska or eligible compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

 Experience:

  • 1-2 years perioperative, intraoperative, ICU or PACU experience preferred.

 Physical:

  • This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
