THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of the Specialty Surgery Technician is to provide the highest degree of support to the surgeon you are assigned to in the surgery department. When not performing surgery services for your assigned surgeon you will assist the other surgeons in the surgery department as well as the anesthesia service.
You must excel in interpersonal communication skills and multi-tasking skills as well as work independently. You must be reliable, dependable and able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You must have the ability to recognize the needs of the various patients and staff.
Some Responsibilities Include:
- Communicating and working closely with all staff members and visitors.
- Being able to work independently and within a group depending on the needs of the situation.
- Providing and ensure quality patient care peri-operatively.
- Assisting anesthesia technicians and others with inductions and recoveries when directed.
- Recovering patients with diligence and compassion.
- Assist in the training process for new and current employees; accurately recording, discussing and troubleshooting the trainee’s progress on the daily progress reports with the trainee, leads and management.
Physical Requirements:

Able to stoop, bend, kneel and stand for prolonged periods of time

Able to move patients weighing to 22 kgs repeatedly. Over 22 kgs with assistance.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for applicants with at least 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience in a surgical environment. Certified Veterinary Technician, CVT required for a technician role. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.
