Description

The Division of Craniofacial Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington and the Seattle Children’s Hospital Craniofacial Center has initiated a national search to identify candidates for a full-time new faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assisant, Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor to provide both craniofacial pediatric and clinical genetic services. Anticipated start date is Fall 2024.

Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate and Clinical Professors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12 month period (June-July) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The successful candidate will become a faculty member in the Division of Craniofacial Medicine joining eight clinicians and three full time scientists with a breadth of basic and clinical research programs.

The Craniofacial Center at Seattle Children’s Hospital specializes in the treatment of cleft lip and palate, Robin sequence, craniosynostosis, craniofacial microsomia, and other complex craniofacial conditions. Our center has become one of the most comprehensive craniofacial centers in North America. This multidisciplinary craniofacial team of over 50 healthcare providers and staff from 14 specialty areas provide all aspects of care for children with craniofacial conditions.

Each child who establishes care at our center is assigned a craniofacial pediatrician, who coordinates care across the team and tailors a plan of care to address each child's unique needs. Innovative surgical procedures in the context of comprehensive and holistic care enable these physicians, dentists, and allied health specialists to address even the most serious and complex craniofacial abnormalities. If genetic consultation is indicated, the child is seen by the clinical geneticist and one of the genetic counselors on the team. Our primary service extends throughout the WAMI region (Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho). However, we are now caring for national and international patients who are specifically seeking to receive care at our center.

The responsibilities of the craniofacial pediatrician/geneticist include direct patient care in an interdisciplinary clinic, care coordination, intake clinic for new patients and on call coverage of craniofacial medicine inpatients. In addition, they provide patient consultation with the Craniofacial Genetics team (genetic counselors, RNs, and genetic counseling assistants) in outpatient setting. Although this BC/BE pediatrician/clinical geneticist will focus primarily on clinical activity, the specific balance of clinical work, and academic time will be tailored to the interests and experience of the applicant.

Seattle Children’s Hospital has top-ranked subspecialty programs. The Craniofacial Center is an internationally recognized center with progressive growth plans to enhance its position as a National Center of Excellence including the expansion of national and international referrals.

The base salary range for this position will be as follows: Assistant Professors $12,238 - $18,357 per month ($146,856 - $220,284 annually), Associate Professors $14,241 - $21,361 per month ($170,892 - $256,332 annually), Professors $18,972 - $28,458 per month ($227,664 - $341,496 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University Benefit Determinations and Calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have earned an MD, DO (or foreign equivalent), be board eligible or board certified in Pediatrics and Genetics and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Application Instructions

Interested applicants must submit a current curriculum vitae, cover letter and a diversity statement. The diversity statement should address your past and planned contributions to equity, diversity and inclusion.
