Description

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants to fill a full-time (1.0) faculty position as a Clinical  Assistant Professor. This position will be based at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) in Seattle, Washington.  This position is for 3 years with the opportunity for unlimited reappointments and aligns with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The University of Washington is in the process of establishing a new “Clinical Practice” professorial track whose members will be eligible to vote, hold multi-year appointments, and be sponsored for permanent residence. The successful candidate will be eligible to convert to new track once it is established.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. This position will be centered on an active clinical service as well as teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized clinical program. Duties will include inpatient and outpatient attending service with the responsibility to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. The anticipated start date will be December 1, 2024 or January 1, 2025.

The base salary range for this position will be: $14,167 - $16,667 per month ($170,004 - $200,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UW Physicians practice plan. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the [UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must have an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with board-certification in rheumatology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington, with a proven track record of securing extramural funding. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
