JOB SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide is to assist with various dietary functions as directed, assigned, or instructed. Responsibilities include setting up beverages, meals, utensils in preparation for and delivery of food service to patients as well as clean up duties. All tasks are expected to be performed in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and established facility procedures and policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Set tables, serve food and clear tables
• Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc.; transport to washing area
• Dispose of garbage and trash; keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous items
• Assist in establishing food service production line to ensure that meals are prepared on time
• Assist in and/or direct scheduled cleaning duties
• Assist cook in preparing meals
• Wash dishes using correct procedure
• Sweep, mop, and maintain dietary floors and work areas
• Dispose of garbage and trash, keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous items
• Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Follow established safety and infection control regulations and policies
• Report disrepair of kitchen and dietary appliances, equipment, etc.
• Report accidents and incidents to supervisor immediately in all situations
• Participate in on-going educational programs related to the job
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and facility business
• Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures
• Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients’ personal and health care needs
• Report complaints and grievances to supervisor
• Communication and active listening skills
• Successful completion of required training
• Handle multiple priorities effectively
• Reliable transportation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education:
o Minimum of completion of tenth (10th) grade in high school
• Experience:
o Healthcare experience preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
• Does not have supervisory responsibilities
• Supervisor frequently determines priorities
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Audio-Visual: Good
• Hearing: Good
• Ability to lift to 40 pounds
• Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and use of hands
• Work is typically performed in a standard long-term facility environment; well-lit and mostly comfortable but may vary dependent upon tasks:
o Occasional increased temperatures while working in dish room;
o Occasional below freezing temperatures when stocking freezer
• Above-average conversational noise is frequent
• Position may require flexible hours or unscheduled overtime
