Department/Position Details:

  • Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient’s ongoing nursing care needs
  • Develop/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient’s nursing care needs for optimum patient care or outcome
  • Delegate tasks and assignments to care team to ensure quality patient care and efficiency
  • Act as a resource to the department and promote a positive work culture
  • cross train and assist with lead duties as needed
  • Evaluates patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome
  • Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety
  • Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions to achieve organizations mission
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age /weight of the patients served
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings.
  • Attend mandatory educational programs.
  • Follow established guidelines as stated in hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

 Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school/college of nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska and other states as required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) required.

 Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in medical surgical, critical care or telemetry.
  • Perioperative experience preferred.
  • Certification encouraged.

Physical:

  • This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
