Job Description

Emseal, A Sika Company, is a manufacturer of premium sealants and expansion joint systems for the commercial construction industry and many specialty market applications.

The Plant Manager is responsible for the efficient, safe, and environmentally correct operation and growth of the Emseal Joint Systems facility(s).  The incumbent is expected to develop and implement new programs to achieve higher quality and productivity in the safest workplace and be the company's representative to direct and achieve our vision in the manufacturing plant by cultivating an environment of confidence and trust.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Attain annual safety goals through a solid understanding of safety management as well as the ability to convey and enforce safety rules and procedures throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Manage the procurement of raw materials.
  • Plan and maintain production schedule.
  • Build and maintain vendor relations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the facility by working with the landlord.
  • Partner with engineering, maintenance, and quality including participating in capital planning, preventative maintenance, and problem-solving.
  • Select, train, and develop professional staff to perform at their own personal best.
  • Train and develop production personnel to ensure uninterrupted supply of necessary skills to operate equipment to meet customer order demand.
  • Motivate assigned professional and production personnel to perform at required levels to attain annual goals through solid management and coaching skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing management experience.
  • Previous experience managing production personnel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement concepts including statistical process control and lean manufacturing is required. 
  • Proven knowledge of product quality demands of manufacturers; problem-solving, error-proofing, and mentoring skills are required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to push forward the necessary strategies and programs to increase quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Ability to map processes and identify non-value-added activities to streamline production activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, which are characterized by sincerity, persuasiveness, and clarity of thought. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills reflecting leadership, sensitivity, and the demonstrated desire and ability to foster teamwork focusing on positive cooperative communication.
  • Strong leader who manages consistently when applying rules, policies, and procedures; leads from a strong position, yet checks their ego at the door and nurtures a culture of listening and respect for all.
