Job Title: Plant Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Plant Mechanic will perform as a skilled mechanic in the constant improvement of maintenance, fabrication, and repair of tire manufacturing equipment. Must be willing to work flexible shifts, and be subject to overtime. Mechanic will practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures; comply with all costumer rules and safety procedures and policies. Properly diagnose, replace or repair parts of equipment utilizing appropriate tooling, equipment and material to accomplish maintenance functions including but not limited to the following: inspections, troubleshooting, repairing, fabricating, removing and replacing components on equipment. Must be able to solve problems by studying drawings, and technical publications if necessary. Tobacco free facility.

Essential Duties:

Responsible for the Constant improvement, fabrication, and repair of Tire Manufacturing equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Must have high school diploma or G.E.D
  • Possess the ability to use the English language to communicate (both verbally and in writing) accurately and concisely on technical matters to external and internal customers
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings.
  • Have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Experienced in industrial maintenance work.
  • Proficient in GTAW/SMAW/GMAW/FCAW and acetylene welding.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Have a complete set of mechanics, and fabrication tools appropriate for maintenance and repair (company will provide specialized tools)
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all of the above areas

Preferred experience

  • 2 to 3 years PM repair experience
  • 2 to 3 years Metal fabrication experience
  • Prior military GSE experience
  • Technical school training for metal fabrication
  • 2 years Pipe Fitting experience

Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements: 

  • Must be able to complete hiring paperwork electronically through DocuSign
  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
  • Must have full range of motion consistent with age
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders 
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises 
  • Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces 
  • Safety/Steel toe shoes are required
