Essential Functions and responsibilities

Develop innovative landscape design concepts for Retail areas.

Use design software and/or hand sketches to create detailed visual design proposals.

Choose appropriate plant and flower species based on climate, soil conditions, and aesthetic preferences to create visually striking and ecologically balanced landscape.

Specify hardscape materials such as pavers, stones, or block to complement the overall design and enhance functionality.

Incorporate sustainable practices into design, including water-efficient irrigation systems and stormwater management solutions.

Work closely with ownership, design and facility management to understand their vision, needs, and preferences, and translate them into practical design solutions. 

Present design proposals and articulate the rationale behind design choices in a clear and compelling manner.

Oversee the installation of landscapes, providing guidance to landscape department, and contractors with a good spirit of teamwork.

Stay current with trends and best practices for landscape needs.

Required Education and Experience

A bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited University and three to five years landscape design experience

Proven experience in landscape design, preferably with a portfolio showcasing a range of projects.

Experience in design software – Auto Cad a plus.

Strong understanding of horticulture, plant species, and design principles.

Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and ownership.

Experience leading a team of individuals conducting labor intensive work.

Inspect assigned work to ensure that standards for work quality, established operating procedures, productivity, and safety practices are being satisfactorily maintained.

Knowledge of local zoning regulations, environmental codes, and construction standards.

Creative thinking, attention to detail, and a passion for sustainable design.

Working conditions

This job is located outside and is susceptible to various weather conditions including heat and cold.

Physical requirements

Possible bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds.

Possible standing for long periods of time; working in all weather conditions

Occasional physical dexterity enough to operate equipment and perform manual landscape labor

5-10% local travel possible
