Diagnosis, treatment, preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of basic to complex heart surgical problems in infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in an in-patient and outpatient setting. Responsible for performing heart treatments. The responsibilities of cardiovascular surgeons include inserting pacemakers, performing bypass surgeries, and surgeries on various arteries. Pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon will be responsible for examining patients that suffer from heart issues, making diagnoses, determining treatments and surgical procedures, performing surgical procedures to correct, improve, and remove heart problems, advising on lifestyle changes post-surgery. Collaboration with medical and adjunct specialties will be encouraged to allow for the pursuit of innovative program development.

Required Experience
Work Experience:
Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training.
License/Registration/Certification:
1. Current Board Certification or Board Eligibility in the specialty of planned clinical activity. 2. Current license to practice medicine in the state of Texas. 3. Current specialty specific cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross;
Education and Training:
1. Completion of a four-year M.D./D.O degree program and medical residency. 2. M.D./D.O. degree or foreign medical equivalent degree • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program 3. Successful completion of an ACGME- accredited Pediatric Cardiothoracic Fellowship Program 4. Eligible to obtain a Texas State Medical License • Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery by the American Board of Pediatrics or eligible to sit for examination in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery 5. Experience in teaching students and residents in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery • Additional training in Cardiac imaging
