Objectives
• Provide an effective analytical testing service to external and internal customers by the application of expertise and problem solving skills.
• Be instrumental in project planning and implementation.
• Provide efficient organization of equipment resources.
• Ensure maintenance of specified equipment.
• Provide training and development for junior colleagues.
• Provide advanced technical expertise.
• Supervise a small team of junior analysts.

• Efficient and on-time delivery of work to agreed timescales, within labor budget costs, meeting quality standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Understand and determine customer requirements (both internal and external) and assist in the preparation of work proposals, study plans, etc.
• Deliver appropriate communication and project updates to Project Managers, as required.
• Plan and execute complex projects utilizing multiple analytical techniques with minimal supervision.
• Produce high quality data and reports for customers (both internal and external) in an accurate and timely manner.
• Provide effective communication and disseminate key information to build and maintain customer/supplier relationships.
• Keep abreast of current scientific advancements relevant to the business and expand knowledge base of analytical chemistry. Disseminate this knowledge as required.
• Train and supervise Junior laboratory staff.
• Manage routine qualification and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Health & Safety
• Comply with all health and safety information, instruction and training as it relates to the individual, role and organization.
• Maintain highest standards of housekeeping particularly with respect to storage of materials, chemicals, solvents and customer samples.
• Take all reasonable steps to ensure own safety and that of others.

Quality
• Ensure that the relevant quality accreditation is maintained through full procedural compliance.
• Liaise with the Quality Unit, as appropriate, to ensure efficient implementation of internal and external audits.
• Assist Project Managers with root cause analysis and technical input into NCWs.
