Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Machinist (2nd shift) is to safely and accurately section and machine test specimens according to specifications, blueprints, or customer drawings. The Machinist must inspect and document required data per internal procedures. All work is to be performed in accordance with established safety and quality procedures and within the turn time required to meet customer requirements.2nd shift can start at anytime after 1:00pm. The candidate will have the option to choose a start time that works best for them.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Machine Shop equipment such as saws, waterjet, lathe, mill, and grinder to produce test specimens from customer supplied parts, forgings, etc.
  • Have the ability read and interpret blueprints and drawings or sketches
  • Ensure tools used are calibrated and verify the calibration before use
  • Use calibrated micrometers or calipers to perform inspection of finished machined test specimens
  • Ability to work with others to problem solve and complete minor equipment repairs to minimize downtime

Skills / Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification as a Machinist preferred
  • Have the ability read and interpret blueprints and drawings or sketches

Physical Demands:

  • Frequency of required physical force: Moderate
  • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
